This is a real old picture of the General who was the commadante of the prison in the Civil War. He is the Great Great Grand Uncle of the owner Bryan. He gave us a lecture about this picture for 45 minutes one evening and we were spellbound. He had to unfortunately oversea the hanging of his dear friend Mary Surrat, who was falsely accused of planning the murder of Abraham Lincoln. John Wilkes Booth stayed in her boarding house in Washington, D.C. but she had no idea of his plan to assassinate. He looks so grim in the picture because he was not able to prevent the hanging of his dear friend.
