Bike Tour Winter 2003

Bicycle Tour led by me in Cuba in Winter 2003. This is my fourth time in Cuba leading a tour myself. I went to places I did before and also Veradero beach, Sancti Spirutus, Santo Domingo, Topo de las Callantes, Trinidad and Colon. Note, you have to scroll down to see the pictures at the bottom. Some of the captions are quite long. Thank you!

4 January 2003: Santa Clara to Santa Clara. Today is a sightseeing day. The weather is clearer today, no rain slightly overcast. The buffet breakfast was really good with mangoes, guayaba, eggs, pancakes, and whole wheat fresh baked bread ( Pan negro). Upon returning to my room, and pulling down the venetian blinds, I discovered a toad asleep on the pulldown handle. He/She woke up when I touched her opened its eyes for 10 seconds, stood vertical for 2 seconds, and then jumped into oblivion (somewhere in the hotel room I guess). We found it later in the corner sleeping vertically 6 feet above the ground glued to the wall. It never moved. We left it there the next day. It's so nice to have a rest day from pedaling. We took a Taxi to visit the Che Gueverra monument 3 km away. There were less than 20 people there because it an overcast day. Ray took lots of pictures of the monument and we saw the room where the ashes of the 40 revolutionaries were kept in drawers. We then took a peso horse cart into the center of town ( 5 pesos including a 50 percent tip). We saw a beautiful decorative museum with furniture and paintings from the 17th through the present century. We had a very nice lady tour guide who explained all the furniture and paintings to us. We then grabbed a cab back to our hotel and had a huge buffet dinner for 10 dollars (all you can eat). Tomorrow we get to pedal again.

I will have future pics here for more travelogues in the future.
